How Will You Excel in Today's New World?
Today more than ever, community benefit organizations are going to be tested. In order for CBOs to stay sustainable in today’s political climate, you will have to;
· Make the case to funders with shrinking resources, that your approach will truly make a difference in people’s lives,
· Create an environment that attracts and retains the most talented and motivated people,
· Identify and nurture new revenue streams to their fullest, without sacrificing quality today,
· Step out of the weeds long enough to feed your creativity, and develop a compelling vision and strategy for change.
In order to thrive in the years ahead, organizations will need to be strategically savvy and emotionally fierce in order to make it through. Those able to embrace this dual challenge will be the ones who not only survive, but make history, during this contentious time.
The "Empowered Organization" Can help
maximize Strengths and manage around gaps
This timely and comprehensive program includes an organizational assessment of your organization’s unique strengths and gaps – we don’t sugar coat your situation, there isn’t time for playing nice here, we do shine the light on what is working so you can build from there.
We provide sound advice and create empowered accountability systems with you. We support you to hold people accountable without shame and blame. This includes do-able approaches to documentation, tightening role clarity, and how to effectively provide feedback.
Let’s face it. Organizations need to ensure a reliable flow of capital in order to run effectively. Non-profit organizations hate to talk about money, but money is essential to achieving your mission. We work with you to develop a sustainability plan and the marketing savvy to communicate your results in compelling ways to a variety of audiences to maximize positive cash flow.
what really makes the difference?
All the best systems design, change management, and marketing in the world, will do you no good, if you and your staff are trapped in fear, insecurity, and anxious mindsets. Which is totally normal actually, most organizations are.
An article published in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, authors Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey, found that,
“In an ordinary organization, most people are doing a second job no one is paying them for. Most people are spending time and energy covering up their weaknesses, managing other people’s impressions of them, showing themselves to their best advantage, playing politics, hiding their inadequacies, hiding their uncertainties, hiding their limitations.”
They nailed it. As a coach, for the last 6 years, I have had the privilege to witness what’s underneath the veil at work. I have seen the ways in which fear, cynicism, and doubt hijack the potential of incredibly talented (and outwardly successful) people. I have also seen that coaching, more than any other methodology, can work to by-pass and overcome our inner critics and self-sabotaging behavior, and generate the courage and confidence for people to show up fully at work, take risks, take ownership and let go of wasted energy and drop battles not worth fighting.
So in addition to the technical support, we provide you and your team, the emotional support through individual and group coaching that is the essential (and often missing) piece of a truly thriving and empowered organization.
